Lakeside House
You've worked hard to earn your home, show your neighbours how much you love it with these helpful tips and tricks!

Tips

  1. Regular scheduled maintenance is the best, most efficient way to make sure your home always looks its best!

  2. Planting flowers and shrubs adds a pop of color to your landscaping and can really make your home stand out. Be sure to choose plants that are native to the Okanagan for less maintenance.

  3. Pressure wash the exterior of your home. This can help to remove dirt, grime, and cobwebs from the exterior of your home, making it look fresh and clean. Be sure to do this before the windows!

  4. Update your front door. A new coat of paint, a stylish doorknob, or a unique knocker can all help to add character and charm to your home's exterior.

  5. Add some outdoor lighting. Good lighting can help to make your home look welcoming and inviting, and it can also help to improve security. Consider using hardwired lights to add the most value!

Tricks

Window Cleaning Supplies
  1. Add equal parts water and vinegar and a few dashes of your favorite essential oil for the most effective sanitizer/deodorizer that works on all surfaces including fabrics!

  2. Keep a supply of microfiber cloths on hand for dusting and cleaning. They work really well to pick up dust, including your windows without streaking them to keep their shine for longer! (To keep the static charge in them, do NOT tumble dry)

  3. If you have ceiling fans, make sure to have it set counterclockwise (to push the air down) in the summer and clockwise (to pull the air up) in the winter time. This will help regulate the temperature of that room.

  4. Want your stemware to be as shiny as your newly shined windows? After washing the stemware, dip in a small saucer with 1 part vinegar and 1 part hot water. Using a polishing cloth, wipe the solution off to get spot free stemware.

  5. To get rid of soap scum in the shower, use the vinegar/water mixture you've made and a stainless steel scrubbing pad. Soap will come off easily!

  6. After you've finished cleaning any metal or wood surfaces, finish it up with a paper-towel dipped in olive oil to give your finished product a beautiful shine!
